Lee

Lee Roy Selmon's story is a mix of football scholarships for his family and service to the community. The first family is his youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He was also one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. Three brothers were All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the USA. For the three seasons that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. As a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third time in 1975. Selmon earned a degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in the college. Following graduation Lee Roy moved to Tampa and spent the next 9 years with Tampa's Buccaneers. 3 times he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 young stars across the country. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6-2. When he was playing college, he commanded the team of 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
