Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the sole celebrity who crossed from country into the mainstream, and to become a pop icon worldwide. Swift is shedding her country roots like it were a second-skin, revealing herself to be one of the best pop singers and songwriters within her generation. She is able to tap into the current trend and turn it into her unique. Swift's early hits, especially the neo tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her talents. However, her album Fearless revealed a songwriter who was beginning to discover herself, and finding a large audience. Fearless was an enormous success not just in the US which is where its Top Ten singles Love Story as well as You Belong with Me helped it to achieve six platinum records however, it also swept the world. The album was particularly successful throughout Canada Australia and the U.K. Swift's new album, Speak Now, released almost two years after the previous one, built on this momentum. It helped propel Swift to superstardom. The popularity of Swift only grew over her next three albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) -- and found her moving assuredly into the realm of pop in which she was already a part. She stayed at the top of pop until she reverted to her signature style in her twin albums, folklore and Evermore in 2020.
